Volunteer Program
The volunteer program of OUR Center has been a cornerstone of the organization success since its beginning. Volunteers donated 54,743 hours in 2009 as intake workers, receptionists, food sorters and distributors, clothing bank workers, furniture matching assistants, fundraisers, public speakers, construction workers, maintenance people, drivers, movers, computer consultants, and board members. Volunteers even rock infants at the Child Care Center! OUR Center would not exist without the hundreds of volunteers who give the gift of time. Thank you.
For more information call Norma Grandchamp, Volunteer Program Coordinator, at 303-772-5529 ext. 235.
Volunteer Spotlight: Food Pantry Volunteers!
Currently there are 55 volunteers assigned to the Food Pantry. Food Pantry Volunteers assist with receiving donated food, weighing the food, marking out bar codes and stocking the food pantry shelves. When the pantry receives rice, beans or cereal in bulk the volunteers bag and box the items for future use. Volunteer Teams assist clients by filling out their weekly grocery vouchers. Volunteers say it makes them feel good to know that the volunteer work they do is making a difference in people's lives. They know that everything that they do in the food pantry is putting food on the tables of families who are facing hardships and financial problems.
